Call Ducks

It is the Duck Hilton after all - so here are some of my Call Ducks :) and others!!

This post is mostly for my friend David :), look away now if you're not a duck nut!!

This is Lizzie (right) and her daughter Annie (left).  Not Calls!! LOL!!

This is Betty Boop

This is a little blue trout duck I bred this season, cute colour.

This is Groucho, his bib is enormous!  I think that he's only single factor extended black, and that's why you can see the claret breast poking through!!

This is Mia, looking gorgeous :)

And this Mietta, she's lovely and such a calm and friendly duck.

Roxie, blue fawn, stunner!

Ruby, her wings are last to change to buff, and she is the deepest, richest buff ever!!

Trudi - trout, lovely little duck... yeah, ok, some head faults!!

And this is what happens when a duck falls asleep while on a hill, when she has oriented herself with her tail UP the hill and her head pointing down the hill!!  She must have fallen asleep, had her head fall forward, woken up and tucked her head back in and then.... around and around a dozen times!!

An amazing 24 hours!

Yesterday evening I got Belle to do a fully fledge text book style SIT, only taken me 18 months, but I did it!!

And this afternoon I caught The Fat Man as he fell from the rafters!!  I was on the wrong side of the Gammill, and had to make a mad dash when I heard the paws scrabbling.... got there just in time, he saw me waiting, stopped trying to get back on top of the rafter, let the back paws go.... that way I could reach him... and then the front.  He ran away as soon as I put him on the floor, with not so much as a thank you or a backward glance - bloody ingrate!!

No pictorial evidence for either of these events, you'll have to take my word for it ;-D

Skinny is well :)

Skinny suffers from asthma, and sometimes is not very well, but at the moment, he's fit as a fiddle and back in 'you will be loving me now' mode!

Matching slitty eyes!!  He's just plain crazy in the coconut!!  And I have no excuse ;-P

And yes, I need new glasses - my optom just wrote to tell me so - luckily I have the whizz bang frames I brought back from France - stay tuned!!

And on a lesser note, the rain is back - tooo soooon.

And after the rain

Peter said that a small patch of pale pale blue-ish sky way waaayy over yonder meant that the rain was over, I wanted to believe.... but I wasnt confident.  An hour later we had a sunset :)  Happy happy joy joy!!  The man is a genius :)  And the sky was brilliant.

Huey and Duey Update

Huey and Duey should be out in the great outdoors, but the weather is agin' it!!  So they are still on sink swims, Huey is so big now, he/she keeps jumping out!!

Duckling with shredded Buk Choy - no.... not a recipe for lunch a list of ingredients for fun and enjoyment!!   LOL!!

Spark-a-larky

The weaning process continues, and with it Sparky has moved from cranky to furious to down right ropable!  I have cut him down to one feed a day.. so far he's destroyed his seed ball, but hasnt learnt to feed himself... so more of the same next week!!

If it keeps on raining.....

As the song goes, if it keeps on raining, levy's gonna break - and while its not a levy, the dam definitely did break.

At first I thought it didn't look too bad....

But water is still running in.....

And I'd entered from the microlite paddock side, plainly the breach was in the creek paddock side....

So I rode around there.... and lucky I did, because on the way I discovered Mya Duck outside the fence trying to get back in - her bad because all the dinner was gone by then, still... very glad I retrieved her - but back to the dam, OK, looks worse from that side.

Then I stepped down nearer the 'mouth' and then I really got a handle on the size of the problem.  The water is actually spilling over the edge of the wall, into a hole... about the size of a quad bike, and then down the hill.  This is not an entirely stable situation, so click click and quickly ride away!!!

Its still raining, 196mm to 9am this morning... and forecast to rain for at least 2 more days.  The frogs are delirious... but I'm over it.
