Hello Froggy

A very plump and healthy looking froggy has moved into the now mostly disused - with the exception of Tomas - duck ponds!

The recent rain has meant that the wheelbarrows are flourishing!  I have one just with flowers - though I note there are lots of little basil seedlings raising their heads in this one, and that's more than welcome, one with herbs and one with veggies.  The veggie wheelbarrow is HUGE, 2 tomato plants, 2 pumpkins and a zucchini - all doing v well.  But here are the flowers, flashy oranges and yellows... with a little bunch of primulas self sown in the corner ;-D

Out the front, the water pots are also doing well, and we have our 3rd waterlily bloom.

And finally a sunset - they've been whizz bang recently with the cloud cover and cold air.

Bird News

The Willy Wagtails fledged on Friday, not the best weather for it, but all 3 left the nest.  Today 2 of the babies were back 'at' the nest for morning siesta.  I hope the 3rd was just loitering nearby, could not find it, or the parent birds, but I could hear them.

I think there are 6 swallow babies in this nest, my early pics were terrible, and these arent much better, but I can definitely count 5 with the bravest wandering along the beam while the parent birds were 'resting' close at hand.  They have been fun to watch, hope they decide to postpone fledging for a few days as the weather forecast is not kind for a week yet.

Shearing at Moorlands

Loli and I have been for another visit to Moorlands, this time to watch the shearing.  At first it was all a bit much for Lol, but after a little while and just before Janet's arm gave way - lucky - she was allowed to wander about in the shed with the shearers' dogs and the farm dogs and best of all the sheep.

We got to go out on the quad bike and muster some sheep, a very cool activity for us city slickers ;-D  Loli enjoyed this hugely until the sheep decided that they werent going to take orders from some little lap dog!!  Trying to use the skills she's learned with Belle and Charcoal and a bunch of Merinos at Wedgewood, somehow didnt translate so well to being on your own with a much bigger bunch of Texels and Dorsets, much more bolshy sheep!!  Seconds after this shot I had to ride the bike at the sheep and get them to do the whole 'move on, nothing to see here' trick, and Loli was very relieved that I did so!!  LOL!!

Saw a swarm of bees which Janet thought she might go back and try to get to add to her hives... Lol and I were pleased to have the farm dogs do all the sheep mustering in this area ;-D

The rain has been good this season, and the grass is growing, the lambs are looking fat and well.  Find out more about Moorlands Lamb at moorlandslamb.com.au

Another lovely outing and yummy lunch at Moorlands, just before we left and while Kettle - one of the farm dogs - wasnt looking I got to sneak a peek at her 8 puppies!! born on Friday - pics are rubbish, blackish puppies in a darkish kennel is beyond my photography skills, but they are very cute, pics next time :)
