Peg

Peg is growing up, still very cute, always into mischief, but strangely unaware of what 'the problem' is!!  LOL!!  Butter would not melt in her microwave!!

She takes herself off most morning to do some sheep work, in the cool of the morning its not too hard on the sheep!!  And then she slinks back home to stir up the pheasants, after that she ends up being tied up for a bit, the whole process is a mystery to her!!  LOL!!

Up and coming Silkies

We have a little band of 6 silkies growing up with the Rouens, Queenie and Delilah.  5 are keepers, but as 3 are cockerals, need to place 1 splash boy.

We are keeping the black boy - Ninja, and the blue splash boy - Spotty (temporary name!!) and the 3 girls, spotty girl - Dotty, lilac cream girl (no name yet) and the darker girl... still no name yet!!  LOL!!

These were all hatched from posted eggs and are brooder babies and thus very tame.  Ninja is past tame and into  downright in your face.  Pecks at your hands 'in case' you have anything in them for him to eat, steals everything and worries about whether he really wants it later, tells Rouens 4 times his body weight to 'get out of the way'.  Nice chick, but needs to learn some respect if he's going to get on in the world!!  LOL!!

Usually when I exterior paint for chook houses and the Duck Hilton in general, I choose from the cheaper, mixed in error colours, but alas they were all out of seconds on my last visit so I got to choose the colour I wanted!!  Thus everything here is purple!!  LOL!!

The Rouens are growing up, and not many of them fit in the clam shells at once, luckily there is more than one calm shell, but they seem content to wait in line and all use the same one!!

Flashy speculum!

Spotty again!  He's a very good looking cockeral :)

Potential Hazard

Its 40+ degrees here today, and we've notified the electric supplier of a damaged pole.  On closer inspection, its not just a loose bolt that has resulted in the cross bracing swinging in the breeze, the entire pole is termite ridden!!

Its been decided that this is an emergency repair - good thinking team - and a new pole is being installed asap!!

Moorlands Puppies at Wedgewood

The 4 Moorlands puppies, Moody, Peg, Max and Pixie are visiting us this week.  Belle, the young Wedgewood dog is very much enjoying their company - for the most part.  This morning she decided not to join us on the walk, apparently 4 11 week old puppies warring non-stop at you, near you and with you gets too much for everybody sometimes!!  Who knew???  LOL!!

Max - black puppy, blue collar
Peg - black and tan puppy, black collar
Moody - black and tan puppy, blue collar
Pixie - black and tan puppy, pink collar

Belle loves Pixie, they play endlessly.

This is Max, butter wouldnt melt in his microwave!!

Moody is not as keen on the water games as the other 3 puppies.

This is Peg, she's the puppy we'll be keeping.

Pixie, probably the smallest puppy and totally fearless.

Boxing Day Sunset

Sunset on Boxing Day was spectacular.

Christmas Day - Wedgewood 2010

Christmas Day was nice and quiet after our 'big gig' the day before.  We enjoyed more seafood and a swim in the pool - Antoine worked hard to get it looking good and ready for swimming.

Such a good season

This season has been so wet and the insects so plentiful that the swallow family have raised a second nestful of babies.

All four successfully fledged between Christmas and New Year.
