Flowers AND chocolates!!

Had a few ups and downs last week, and I may or may not have bitten off a few heads as a result.  I must have been pretty cranky, because he brought home flowers AND chocolates!!  They are lovely and the house is full of the heady scent of lilies. The chocolates are gone!!  And my good humour has returned... magic!!  LOL!!

The great llama round up

Today we made a make shift yard, wire posts and white electrical fencing tape, and used more tape, 5 people and a large dose of luck, to round up Sweet Pea and Carter.  It all went swimmingly well, and very quickly, and in one shot we had them in the yard!!  Sweet Pea had her old halter caught around the base of her neck, and Carter's halter was such a snug fit that there were a few rub marks on his face.  Removed Carter's halter, fitted a new one to Sweet Pea, and attached the lead rope, and spent some lovely cuddle time with them.  At the end of the day, they are safe and well and very very happy in there new wooded field on the side of Mount Camberwarra.  I am very grateful to Tony and Pam for letting the llamas free range on their paddock, to Shayne for setting this up and to Berry and Liz for delivering them.  Today's round up team were awesome!!  Thanks to Shayne, Brad, Tony and Freya - good job team!!  LOL!!  Here are some pics taken by Tony today :)

Hard to believe, but I have very few digital pics of Tulula, and the hard copy ones are all in storage now.  Been fiddling about for a few days, but here are a couple of Tulula in her hey day!!

Wonders will never cease

I never ever thought I would see the day that Skinny, the biggest dog hater in the world, snuggled up to Loli, who barely tolerates cats!!  You can see its not exactly cozy, but it did happen!!  LOL!!!

Of course we can fit in some new ducks!

Yep, OK, the Duck Hilton is full!!  No more room at the inn!!

This week saw the arrival of 3 lovely little girls, which will help with the male:female ratio, which was very drake heavy.  The 'for sale' suite now contains 6 drakes and we "must work harder" at finding them new homes.

So, we have 2 new little blue fawn girls, Mavis and Mabel and little Betty Boop, who is a white duck, with blotchy choc speculum and blotchy choc rump, not sure how you would go about 'making' this colour, but we'll see what sort of babies she produces and try to work backwards from there!!  LOL!!

This is Betty Boop

And, from the left we have Iggy, Saffie, Morrie, Sabine (white) ,Mavis (top) and Mabel (bottom)

This is The Don, an apricot silver drake, pretty boy :)

And this is his friend Isabel, who is blue silver (?), also very pretty and very tame and friendly, nice little duck :)

Juliet and Romeo, now very much at home and doing well.

Sally and Slim, Slim is a very quiet drake, and often pushed around by smaller boys, luckily Sally usually comes to the rescue and does a little chest pushing if he's getting too badly picked on!!  LOL!!

Star's babies are growing up.  I kept 3.. and of course that meant I would end up with 2 roos and 1 pullet!!  This is Star 2 and Tinkerbelle enjoying some winter sunshine.  They are both very friendly chookies and love a cuddle.

This is the other cockerel Party Roo, he's mean to ducks!!  And not friendly with people either, pretty typical for a roo!!  He's twice bullied Tina, and that means you'll be escorted off the premises, it is the DUCK Hilton, after all ;-D  Anyone need a very low mileage roo??  FTGH

Farewell Tulula

Sad news today, from Andi on the Isle of Wight, Tulula has lost her battle with lymphoma and died on Wednesday.  Not a long life, but a full and happy one.  I will always remember her sitting in the open window of the house at Dournazac, enjoying the sun and generally as happy as a clam, and me having a nervous breakdown about the huge drop below the window!!  Farewell Tulula.
