Moths and a Little Grebe

Yesterday I saw a Little Grebe and a Pied Cormorant on the home paddock dam while I was out walking the dogs.  Of course when I went back, they werent there, having the dogs with me probably didnt help!!  But I did find 2 moths that were interesting... and of course I had the long lens aka the wrong lens on, but hey!!

Today I went back to the dam, sans dogs, and took some pics of the Little Grebe, hope he/she finds a friend to bring home :)  Might build a hide!!

Last Call, Butterflies and Apples

Its been a bountiful season for apples here at Wedgewood and the 3 grafted tree, though barely a metre and a half tall, has yielded 3 buckets of apples today.  The Golden Delicious are... well... ummm... delicious!!

On the way to photograph the ducklings this morning, Eddy noticed a very large and beautiful butterfly sitting in the annexe garden.

This is Smarty Britches, a little white drakeling with choc dots on his tail, he's quite a sweetie, very tame, and definitely passes the 'good ducks sit' test.

And this is his sister Smarty Pants, who has even more choc dots on her tail and back, and she definitely went to the same finishing school - good ducks sit!!
