Last season I raised a Pacific Black duckling who was left behind when her mother visited my friend's garden. Tomas - who should have been called Tomasina - left the Duck Hilton at age 3 months, and has been doing very well in the 'wild' ever since.
Every day she returns to the diminished ponds at the Duck Hilton, and 'hangs out'. We still feed her, and her mate, I dont think he's even slightly keen on the place, but obviously she insists!!
It's lovely to see her, and I know its her, having been raised with Call ducks she is a very very mouthy bird, unlike every other Pacific Black you've ever met!! Tomas in the pond, mate on the side.
