Echidnas - they're everywhere!! Hardly ever saw one as a kid, but now that I'm living in NSW, I see them nearly every week. 2 today!! This one this morning on Corringle Lane, not best pleased about my stopping to take photos!!
Welcome to Rosie Francis' blog, a place to keep pace with the activities of a textile artist, long arm quilter, llama and alpaca farmer and self confessed duck nut living on the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales, Australia.

Update on Sunday Rose
Sherrie's lamb, Sunday Rose, is doing well. She had rough start to life, but now appears to be thriving. There is still a river running through her paddock so she and mum spend their days in the yards and their nights in the shed, she'll have a coat on tonight as the forecast is for a low of -2 C !!

Lots of Rain, the Dam, and a New Lamb
While I was driving home from Melbourne on Sunday afternoon Sherrie gave birth to a ewe lamb. It was raining at the time, and there has been a lot more since, and more is forecast for the next 5 days!! Eddy wanted to call the lamb Sunday Roast if it was a ram, but as she's not, we've called her Sunday Rose. She has had a rough start and yesterday managed to get herself on the other side of the fence from her mother. She also has been scouring, not a good look for a day old. Yesterday afternoon I brought them into the shearing shed, gave her antibiotics and some glucose and electrolyte water to see if I could help her improve. Yesterday evening she was looking very poorly, but this morning she is looking much better :) With a river running through her paddock I think I'll be keeping her and her mother indoors for a while.
The creek broke its banks yesterday afternoon, but during the evening subsided. More rain over night and its back up again this morning.
I can see some fence repairs will be necessary.
The dam is as full as it can get - YAYYYY
The llamas and alpacas have crossed the 'new creek' to come in for breakfast this morning.

Road Trip
Yesterday I returned from a road trip to Melbourne to meet my new grandson, Jacob. Had a lovely time and got lots of cuddles squeezed into a too short visit! Also a chance to see Alan and Aleisha's new house and garden - both of which look very impressive :)
Jake weighs over 5kg now, and is thriving!!
Hey Dad, Gargie told me, all I gotta do is say the word....
Dad getting some of his own medicine....
Jake: "so what you're telling me is....."
LOL!!!

New Arrivals
Today I drove to Wilton to the home of Painted Persian Sheep to collect our new ram lambs, Lynley and Barnaby - AKA, the Inspectors.
All the sheep were keen to say hello!!
This is Barnaby's mother Autumn - she's a Persian sheep, his father is a Damara.
And this is Lynley's mother Suzi (Dorper), who wasnt keen to step back for a proper photo!!
And his father Abraham.
And his (full) sister... from last season, whose name I've forgotten.
Long trip home, but we made it. Milly, Molly and Mandy were greeted enthusiastically by the boys, who made no nasty comments about their new (basin) haircuts which they got yesterday along with 'nether region' trim courtesy of Reids Flat shearer Cliff - who was very patient with fidgety lambs!!
The whole gang wanted to meet the new bugs!!
Especially Red Riding Hood!!

Sundays with Scarlett and Sunrises
My Mac is out of action, and as such, I've been unable to post... but now have access to a PC and learning to use it all over again is a bit of a challenge for an old brain... Meantime I have enjoyed a couple of Sundays with Scarlett Rose and there have been some amazing sunrises to see at home :)
Still in her jammies and recovering from a horrible bout of impetigo in late July.
One of the very speccy sunrises, other one must still be in the camera!! Stay tuned.

Dressed in her llama shirt, but not really ready for action!
And last weekend, good as new and into mischief! She climbs everywhere!! Not so much a cat climbing tree as a toddler climbing tree!!
